Sapa may be a humble municipality within the province of Lao Cai, which is becoming famous to several travellers. This charming place is thought of for its picturesque landscape and rich cultural diversity. Set against the Hoang Lien Son formation near the Tonkinese Alps in Northwest Vietnam, this destination offers an array of exciting adventures for local and foreign visitors alike. Sapa, yet its surrounding region, presents a refreshing experience of being one with nature through its rice terraces, lush forests and vegetation, and other natural attractions.
It is expected to experience the subtropical atmosphere in summer, with an average temperature of 15.4ºC and a maximum temperature of 29.4ºC. At the same time, August rains more often, especially in the morning. From November to February, the weather has been cold, wet, and hazy. After winter, most of Vietnam's budget and luxury hotels fill up quickly. So it might be better if you book your accommodation in advance
What adds more character to Sapa are the ethnic minorities that live in and around the city. These tribal groups are H`mong, Dao, Tay, Giay, Muong, Thai, Hoa (Chinese), and Xa Pho (a sect of Phu La). Most of these people live in small villages scattered throughout the mountainous areas of the region. To earn a living, the old members of the group make and sell interesting souvenirs such as clothing and blankets.
